{Sunday Post} — Star Trek, Westerns, and Other Stuff

What Am I Reading?

It's getting pathetic at how slow my reading has been lately. I've put bookmarks inside Midnight Black, Bellevue, and Shot in the Back, but I've yet to begin reading any of them. I'm currently reading an eBook, so when it's finished, I'll move on to one of these if I don't get distracted by other things.

Song of the Week

What's New on the Bookshelf?

Typically, William W. Johnstone ghostwritten books are released at the end of the month—though they have the next month's publication dates—but not for April 2025. The new batch—"Bad Broke, Colorado," "Nest of Vipers," and "Hard Men to Kill"—came out on April 1st, which was the day I bought them.

Recent paperback thrifting finds include The Fallen Man by Tony Hillerman, I Found You by Lisa Jewell, Echo by Tracy Clark, Texas Empire by Matt Braun, The Smiling Desperado by Max Brand, The Iron Horse by Jack Ballas, The Silent Gun by Douglas Hirt, The Trouble at Pena Blanca by Nelson Nye, The Thirsty Land by Norman A. Fox, and Shootout in Dodge City by Cameron Judd.

I found The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder by David Grant on the library's free bookshelf.

New titles on my Kindle are Growing Things and Other Stories by Paul Tremblay, The Beast You Are: Stories by Paul Tremblay, Smoke Jensen, The Beginning by William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone, Montana by William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone, Blue Labyrinth by Preston & Child, Dry Bones by Craig Johnson, The Thorns by Dawn Kurtagich, Please Don't Eat the Daisies by Jean Kerr, Fast Charlie by Victor Gischler, four Matt Helm spy thrillers: The Wrecking Crew, The Silencers, Murderer's Row, The Ambushers by Donald Hamilton, Death Wish by Brian Garfield, Death Sentence by Brian Garfield, and several Star Trek titles: TOS: The Prometheus Design by Myrna Culbreath and Sondra Marshak, TOS: Legacies: The Purgatory's Key by Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore, TOS: The Children of Kings by David Stern, TOS: Foul Deeds Will Rise by Greg Cox, TOS: My Enemy, My Ally by Diane Duane, DS9: The Long Night by Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch, The Amazing Stories Anthology edited by John J. Ordover, and TNG: The Companion: Revised Edition by Larry Nemecek.

  1. The Matt Helm spy thrillers and the westerns look intriguing to me. I've never read johnstone. I did read I Found You by Lisa Jewell though.
