April 18, 2020 - I hope you are all doing well! I'm feeling surprisingly good lately—maybe finally shaking off that pesky flu. My sleep has improved, and my reading enthusiasm is slowly creeping back. As for my blogging? Well, it’s a work in progress, but I promise more reviews are coming!
Oh, and Happy Easter to everyone!

I recently wrapped up the medical thriller Bellevue by the brilliant Robin Cook and dove into Hanging Justice—a vintage Western that I nabbed from a garage sale. This gem, published under the pen name Jake Logan, is part of the Slocum series, which kicked off the first-ever American Western paperback series marketed as "adult western" in 1975 by Playboy Press. Can you believe there are 437 titles in this series, with the last one released in 2014? Hanging Justice is the second book, originally published in 1975, and I am reading the sixth printing from January 1980, just a year and a half before I made my grand entrance into the world!
As of this early Friday morning, I am on page 56, and with its quick 199-page count, I plan to finish it by Saturday's end. After that, I will finally tackle Mark Greaney's Midnight Black!

In the meantime, I purchased David Baldacci's latest novel, Strangers in Time, after not receiving the ARC I requested. The cover is beautiful, and the storyline piques my interest—set in WWII London, it follows a bookshop owner and two teenagers.
I swung by the Salvation Army, but it was a bit uneventful. I only came away with one ten-cent paperback, Tom Clancy's Power Plays: Cold War by Jerome Preisler.

I made a note to myself: avoid antique flea markets to save bookshelf space! But what did I do on Thursday? I bought a stack of books, ranging from 75 cents to $3 each, at two stores. And boy, did I pick up a lot of Westerns! Among them were titles like Blood Lands by Ralph Cotton, The Last Gunfighter: Reprisal by William W. Johnstone, The Devil's Snare by Tony Healey, and others. I also grabbed classics from Louis L'Amour, like The Ferguson Rifle and Lonely on the Mountain. Plus, I found Cemetery Jones and the Dancing Guns by William R. Cox and The Man Who Killed the Marshal by Ray Hogan. A fun little bonus? Buzzard Bluff came bundled with a historical romance titled The Texan's Reward by Jodi Thomas. I'm not sure yet if I’ll dive into that, but I'll donate it if it doesn’t intrigue me.
I also scored three Longmire books by Craig Johnson: The Cold Dish, Another Man's Moccasins, and Kindness Goes Unpunished.

You’d think I’d have every Clive Cussler novel by now, but there are still a few on my list. The good news? I can finally cross off Atlantis Found, White Death, Polar Shift, and Fire Ice from that never-ending hunt!
As you may know, I’ve been a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel since my teenage years, and I’ve held on to many of the media tie-in books from that era. Recently, I stumbled upon Angel: Love and Death by Jeff Mariotte and couldn’t resist picking it up.
I also found both Fletch and Fletch Won by Gregory McDonald, which I’m excited to dive into!

Last but not least, I scored a signed copy of Anne Hillerman’s Stargazer. And no, it’s not one of those stamped signatures; I can see the ink bleeding through the page, making it a sweet find, especially at just $3! I don’t think the seller realized its value. All in all, it’s been a successful bookish adventure!

Ooh nice! Glad to hear you're feeling better! And wow! What a haul! I used to love reading the media tie in books! It was basically what I turned to if I couldn't find anything new to read off the shelves. I think there were way too many Buffy books at the time for me to dive in, so I remember turning to other shows or movies. Lol. Awesome find on the signed edition! These are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!
