What's New on the Bookshelf?
Sometime this past week, I bought David Baldacci's newest book, To Die For.
At Dollar General, I picked up the hardcover A Bright Ray of Darkness by Ethan Hawke and two audiobooks: Michael Crichton's The Andromeda Evolution by Daniel H. Wilson and Redemption Point by Candice Fox.
I usually visit the local thrift store on Mondays, but if it's pouring rain, as forecasters predicted, I'll skip tomorrow. There weren't many "new" books there last week, though I did pick up three old paperbacks: Time Enough For Love by Robert A. Heinlein, Tomorrow! by Philip Wylie, and The Long Winter by John Christopher.
I went with my mother to an antique flea market inside an old Piggly Wiggly store. We were there a few months ago, and she wanted to return to see if they had Christmas decorations. There was some Christmas stuff there, but she didn't buy anything. I, on the other hand, did buy quite a few—don't be shocked —books.
The titles are West Lighting: The Brief, Legendary Ride of the Pony Express by Jim DeFelice, Longarm, and the Runaway Thieves by Tabor Evans, Slocum and the City Slickers by Jake Logan, Lone Star, and the Death Mine by Wesley Ellis, Lone Star and the Death Chase by Wesley Ellis, The Mediterranean Caper by Clive Cussler, Cyclops by Clive Cussler, Deep Six by Clive Cussler, Treasure by Clive Cussler, Iceberg by Clive Cussler, Pacific Vortex by Clive Cussler, Vixen 03 by Clive Cussler, Valhalla Rising by Clive Cussler, Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy, Submarine by Tom Clancy, and Stone Cold by David Baldacci.
New eBooks on my Kindle are Goblin by Josh Malerman, King of Comedy: The Life and Art of Jerry Lews by Shawn Levy, Killing the Legends by Bill O'Reilly & Martin Dugard, and Witches Run Amok: The Oral History of Disney's Hocus Pocus by Shannon Carlin.
Thank you for reminding about David Baldacci. He had fallen off my radar.
ReplyDeleteI read Time Enough For Love about 40 years ago. Interesting read. Heinlein is a good writer that manages to hold both macho and feminist ideas all at once. But he was born in 1907, so a bit outdated.
