* Weekly Tidbits *
- There was a split second where I thought the autumn weather was arriving early, but Mother Nature played a trick and ramped up the humidity, causing my allergies to go to wonkers. I spent the week sick and got more blogging written in one week than I've done all year.
- I got my Real ID. Surprisingly, there wasn't a long line at the driver's license bureau—that's what it's called in my neck of the woods; no DMV—and I wasn't there for ten minutes.
- The KC Chiefs lost their second—out of three—preseason game last night. Hopefully, this isn't a premonition of things to come.
- On the flip side, the KC Royals won last night 13-1 against the Cincinnati Reds. Currently, the Royals are in the third AL Wildcard spot and are in third place in the ALC—two games behind the Twins and four games behind the Guardians.

What's in the Mailbox?
New ARCs in the mail include Shadow of Doubt by Brad Thor and Writers of the Future, Volume 40.
What's New on the Bookshelf?
Like, I need more books, right? New pick-ups at retail price are A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, Talons of Eagles by William J. Johnstone, and The Morgan Men: Legends of the American Frontier by William J. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone.
Also, I picked up Chasing the Lion by A.J. Tata at Dollar Tree.
Don't be shocked—I did some thrift during the week.
I haven't visited the local Humane Society thrift store in quite a long time, and there was much difference there bookwise; mostly the exact titles from my last visit, except for Crisis by Robin Cook, which I bought for $2.
Also, I got two John Saul hardbacks—Creature and Nathaniel—for $2 apiece. It's my third copy of Nathaniel. It's the Gregg Press Edition, minus the book jacket. "Creature" looks practically brand new, published in 1989. I have a rough paperback, so it's an upgrade for me.

I'm on a Western kick and picked a few more old paperbacks for 10 cents each. The titles are The Collected Short Stories of Louis L'Amour: Frontier Stories - Volume 1, The Shadow Riders, The Sackett Brand, and The Quick and the Dead by Louis L'Amour; Ambush at Shadow Valley, and Ride to Hell's Gate by Ralph Cotton; Tonto Basin by Zane Grey; and The Last Gunfighter: Manhunt by William J. Johnstone.
New titles on my Kindle are Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines by David Hagberg, Do You Remember?, Ward D, The Locked Door, The Ex, and What to Know a Secret? by Freida McFadden.
Loving the murder/thrillers in your pile. I am getting excited for football, but would like to skip the cooler weather...lol
