Ghost Machine Releases New Horror Comic Before Halloween

October 2024 welcomes a new comic book series from Ghost Machine Comics - Hyde Street. The storyline introduces the third universe created by the writers of Ghost Machine, the Horror Universe. It joins The Unnamed Universe and The Rook Universe, which includes the planet, Exodus.

Hyde Street, the New Monthly Comic Book

On October 2, 2024, the monthly issues of Hyde Street launch, written by an all-star team of Ivan Reis, Danny Miki, Geoff Johns, Rob Leigh, Brad Anderson, and Maytal Zchut. The comic book series hearkens back to classics like Tales from the Crypt and draws inspiration from television shows like Twilight Zone. It tells stories that could happen in any town in any state. As Johns describes the series plot, every town has the proverbial Hyde Street, the place where the unusual and horrible happen.

Previews of the cover art hint at the stories appearing in the first issue. Like other debuts, Ghost Machine decided to bring out the comic with more than one cover, so you can snap up all four or choose your favorite:

  • Hyde Street #1 Cover A by Reis, Miki, and Anderson featuring Mr. X-Ray
  • Hyde Street #1 Cover B by Frank and Anderson featuring Mr. X-Ray
  • Hyde Street #1 Cover C by Kelley Jones and Anderson featuring Pranky, the World’s Most Dangerous Scout
  • Hyde Street #1 Cover D by Deodato Jr. and Anderson featuring Pranky, the World’s Most Dangerous Scout.

How they each figure into the first issue and whether their characters reappear in later issues, no one has said. The only other hints as to the content came from a Bleeding Cool teaser and Ghost Machine #1, which carried a preview story.

Hyde Street One-Shot

Its debut month brings more than just the first monthly issue. On October 30, 2024, the publisher also releases a one-shot comic book, It Happened on Hyde Street: Devour, written by Zchut and illustrated by artist Leila Leiz. The one-shot gets the same multi-cover treatment as the first monthly issue, including:

  • Devour #1 Cover A by Reis, Miki, and Anderson
  • Devour #1 Cover B by Leiz and Alex Sinclair
  • Devour #1 Cover C by Frank and Anderson.

In this one-shot, Zchut considers the pressure today’s women put on themselves to achieve the perfect body. A soon-to-be bride diets to hone her body to suit her desired wedding dress. Her aunt encourages her to take a shortcut - Miss Goodbody’s new product called Devour.

Joining a Well-rounded List of Publications

Ghost Machine brings out Geiger #4, Redcoat #4, Tales of the Unnamed: The Blizzard, and Rook: Exodus #4 in July 2024. It will follow the Hyde Street October releases with the November debuts of The Rocketfellers and Hornsy & Halo.
