{Sunday Post} — Alien: Enemy of My Enemy, Rogue Warrior, and Star Trek: Phaser Fight

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • Happy Easter!

  • The Kansas City Royals have begun the 2024 season with two losses, continuing their losing streak from last year. Perhaps a new stadium will help them turn things around. LOL!

What Am I Currently Reading?

It takes me a while to read ARCs because I often get sidetracked by other books. For example, I recently started reading 'The Making of the TV Series Star Trek'. This book was released in 1968 and was primarily written by Stephen E. Whitfield, with Gene Roddenberry as the co-author. However, Roddenberry's contribution to the book was minimal. I had not planned to read it immediately, but last Sunday night, I got bored and read a few pages. Although, I did not pick it up again yesterday. Currently, I am on page 107.

What's New in the Mailbox?

The only book in the mail was Lost Federations: The Unofficial Umade History of Star Trek by A.J. Black (a UK import), which I had ordered from Amazon.

What's New on the Shelf?

I feel ecstatic when I find a Star Trek book in the wild, but it doesn't happen often. Last Monday, I ran across a book called Star Trek: Phaser Fight by Barbara and Scott Siecel at the thrift store. It is part of a series called "Which Way" books, Archway Books' version of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, published in the 1980s. Only two of the 24 books published were related to the Star Trek universe, and Phaser Fight was the final one.

I also found a hardback of Daphne du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel and Richard Marcinko and Jim DeFelice's Rogue Warrior: Domino Theory and Rogue Warrior: Blood Lies at the thrift store. The hardback has no edition number; the only copyright dates are 1951 and 1952.

During the week, I visited Dollar Tree twice, but there were no new books. I did, however, purchase All Her Little Secrets by Wanda M. Morris, which I had seen there the week before.

The new eBooks on my Kindle are Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Gamma: Original Sin by David R. George, The Silent Corner by Dean Koontz, Alien: Enemy of My Enemy by Mary SanGiovanni, Star Wars: Crimson Climb by E.K. Johnston, The Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden, One by One by Freida McFadden, and The Guest List by Lucy Foley.
