{Sunday Post} — The Codex, The House of Thunder, and The X-Files

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • There's a new thrift store, Bark Bargains, in my town. The proceeds go to the local animal shelter. Well, it's not really new, but it moved to a new location—the old Mediacom building.

  • Why is Amazon delivery always late on Saturdays?

What Am I Currently Reading?

I'm on page 91 of Cross Down by James Patterson and Brendan DuBois. Yeah, I'm reading slowly, but at least I'm reading.

What's New on the Shelf?

I went with my mother to Bark Bargains (a.k.a. the new thrift store) on Tuesday or Wednesday. It was the first time I had ever been there. The store is small, but there's quite a bit of stuff there, including several bookcases with a few books. Prices aren't too bad: $4 for "antique" books, $2 for hardbacks, and 50 cents for paperbacks. I picked up Locked On by Tom Clancy with Mark Greaney, Threat Vector by Tom Clancy with Mark Greaney, The House of Thunder by Dean R. Koontz, Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Games of State by Jeff Rovin, The X-Files: Ground Zero by Kevin J. Anderson, and The X-Files: Ruins by Kevin J. Anderson.

At my typical thrift store stop (aka, Salvation Army), I got four Robert Ludlum paperbacks: The Cry of the Halidon, The Janson Directive, The Icarus Agenda, and The Osterman Weekend.

At Dollar Tree, I found Never Let Them See You Bleed by William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone, Silver Wings: Iron Cross by Tom Young, and Warrior of the Altaii by Robert Jordan.

The local library had a bunch of free books. I grabbed: Matt Jensen: The Last Mountain Man: Snake River Slaughter by William W. Johnstone with J.A. Johnstone, The First Mountain Man: Preacher's Pursuit by William W. Johnstone with J.A. Johnstone, Luke Jensen: Bounty Hunter: Bad Men Die by William W. Johnstone with J.A. Johnstone, The House of Gold by Max Brand, A Knight of the World by Terry Brooks, First Born by Richard Sears, and The Codex by Douglas Preston.

The newest title on my Kindle is The Entity by Frank De Felitta.

  1. That's odd about Amazon. They hardly ever deliver to us anymore, they just hand things off to USPS but then we'll see their van in the neighborhood across the street! It's weird.

    Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

  3. I remember there being an Osterman weekend movie, I guess I didn't realize that was a Ludlum book.
