  Billy's Answer

Horror. Yeah, I was captivated by anything that might frighten me, even when I could scarcely read, and it all began with kid-friendly ghost stories at that time. I progressed to Fear Street and Point Horror books before reverting to Goosebumps, which finally led me to Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, and John Saul novels. To answer the second question, sure, I still read horror.

  1. I'm horrified by your answer! Okay, not really, but I couldn't resist the pun. I read a bit more of everything as a kid than I do now, but I definitely read mysteries.

Thanks for including my question in the hop!

  2. As a child I preferred reading fairy tales! I read watered down classics made for children that soon progressed into the real deal. I can't remember when I read the true fairy tales, maybe by the end of elementary school? That part is kind of blurry. Lol. I do still enjoy reading fairy tales, but these days it's turned more into fairy tale retellings!

    Here's my BBH

  3. I read a lot of horror as a child, too. But I didn't read horror exclusively. I read a lot of different genres, just like I do now!

  4. I never really had a favorite genre as a child, I chose to explore all genres then. Today I am the same way I suppose, I like so many different genres. I do tend to gear towards the psychological thriller genre. But I try to make myself go out of my comfort zone and try something new, but it is hard for me.

  5. Interesting question this week and I found it hard to remember back 60 years to what I liked to read. I pretty much read anything and everything - I think. :)

  6. Lol. Horror is one genre I have never read. I do have a cozy horror on my TBR for this year (Cackle, by Rachel Harrison), but that's very different from traditional horror. :-)

  10. I started reading horror in my teen years. John Saul was a favorite. I wouldn't go on to try Anne Rice, Stephen King and Dean Koontz until I was an adult. Have a great weekend!

  11. As a kid (and even today as an adult), I read everything I could lay my hands on.. and with horror, while I don't read it too often, I still need to/want to read every once in a while.. :)
    thanks for hosting..

  12. Haven't thought that much about it before, but yeah, I pretty much read today what I read as a kid. Just (generally) age appropriate versions. Primarily Crime/Mystery/Detective Fiction...
