  Billy's Answer

I've always liked Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, but it's a poor comparison to Stephen King's novel. Rosemary's Baby is one of the best book-to-film adaptations. If you've read the book, then you've seen the movie. If you've seen the movie, then you've read the book.

  1. I've heard good things about the Rosemary's Baby adaptation. Never watched it since I have a limited tolerance for horror and I'm not sure I would enjoy it.

  2. Rosemary's Baby truly is a great adaptation! While I like The Shining adaptation, that did lessen a bit once I finally read the book which is just a lot richer. Thanks for hosting and have a lovely weekend :)

  3. Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining just wasn't scary to me. I read the book when I was maybe ten years old. It scared me so much I had to hide it in the back of my bookshelf for a while. The movie, which came out not long after, paled by comparison.

  4. I haven't read those two and I've only ever caught parts of The Shining movie wise. Not the biggest on horror movies. Lol. I prefer when the movie plays like the book its based off though, that's the whole point I mean! There was one movie I saw based on a book that totally flipped it upside down and backward and however many more euphemisms I can't think of. It wasn't too terrible of a movie...but I still prefer the book. I hate that the movie had to be titled the same and all, because it would've been a fine movie if it never involved the book.

  5. Every Stephen King movie I've seen, I enjoyed. The book is generally better but since he has so much influence that the movies turn out decent too.

  6. I'm not a Stephen King fan but I did saw the Green Mile and the The Shawshank Redemption and I enjoyed them. I did read The Shawshank Redemption but I liked the movie more probably because it's less harsh and less violent.

I do like it when a movies follow closely to the books but I can't say that for every book.

    Have a lovely day.
