Cliff only sees the stunning blonde in the passanger seat, while Rick looks right through her to the diminutive Polish auteur in the driver's seat.
page 56, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" by Quentin Tarantino
My Thoughts
The 2019 Quentin Tarantino-directed Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood has become one of my favorite movies, so naturally, I wanted to read the director's novelization of the film.
Would love to read this. Still haven't watched the film either. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI recommend watching the movie first and then the novelization.
DeleteWas the novel exactly like the movie. I thought the movie was so fun...in an odd way. My Friday quotes from This Tender Land
ReplyDeleteThe novelization is an adaptation of Quentin Tarantino's original script. I'm almost at the halfway mark, and the movie's ending Mansion family scene has already happened in a flashforward. There's more backstory for Cliff (played by Brad Pitt in the film). While the film gave the impression that Cliff killed his wife, we get a definite and detailed answer in the book. Tarantino goes into detail about Cliff's love for movies, especially Japanese films. We also learn how Cliff met his pit bull terrier Brandy. There's also a weird prequel chapter with Pussycat, the girl Cliff drives to the Spahn Ranch.
