{Sunday Post} - Joe's Apartment, Later, and Scaredy Cat

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

What Am I Reading?

I'm currently reading Later by Stephen King. It has been sitting on my desk calling my name since I bought it. Then I'm going to restart The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, which I had to shove aside so I could tackle a few ARCs.

What's in the Mail?

There's been nothing new review-wise in the mail except for the Don't Tell A Soul DVD, which didn't make it in the above picture since I had already reviewed it this past week. I'm supposed to be receiving two ARCs, which are no longer ARCs because the books are already out in stores. I double-checked with one publicist, and she says she's sending me the book, but that was over a week ago. As for the book, the publicist (a different one) was late in replying to my request, but she says she's sending me a copy.

As you can see from the photo, there are several new movies in my clutches, as well as James Patterson's new release, The Palm Beach Murders. The book consists of three novellas from his failed Bookshots series.

Enough said about that. Let's get on to the movies.

For those of you who don't already know, Warner Bros. fired most of their home entertainment staff last year partly due to the pandemic, but more than likely because of their streaming service, HBO Max. To make a long story short, Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures are combining their home entertainment divisions. Anyway, Warner Archive had a "final" 4 for $44 sale at the beginning of the month. I ordered the following movies - House of Wax 3D, Ladyhawke, From Beyond The Grave, Dracula A.D. 1972, The Satanic Rites of Dracula, Horror of Dracula, The Curse of Frankenstein, When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth, Hysteria (DVD), Crescendo (DVD), She (DVD), and Joe's Apartment (DVD). Yes, many of these are Hammer titles. I've been on a Hammer fever lately, which explains why I bought the out-of-print Twins of Evil Blu-ray on eBay. Now I only need to get the second film, Lust for a Vampire. (FYI: I already own The Vampire Lovers on Blu-ray and have Lust for a Vampire on digital.)

I ordered PG: Psycho Goreman after watching a digital screener, and I have yet to review the movie. I have the first paragraph written, and if everything goes as planned, I will post it around midnight.

Castle Freak is a remake of an old Stuart Gordon horror flick. I have heard many horrible things about the remake, and for some twisted reason, I want to watch it.

Lastly, I picked up the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Presents The Undead DVD at Dollar Tree.

What's New On the Bookshelf?

Two or three weeks ago, I picked up Scaredy Cat by James Patterson & Chris Grabenstein. I haven't had time to read it, but it looks like a fun read.

The only recent titles on my Kindle are Horror Movie Freak by Don Sumner and The Shell Collector by Nancy Naigle (ARC).

  3. That's a nice movie haul! I rarely ever sit down and watch movies lately. Last night I actually watched one just because my internet was acting up and I could stream shows on my streaming service. It got real annoying after the first 5 minutes of it reloading. Hope you enjoy all the new flicks and the new reads! Hope your ARCs in transit also show up soon!

    Here's my StS
