Billy's Answer
Sometimes I pick my next reads by book blog tour dates, publication dates, or prescheduled post dates. Then there are other times I just grab a random book and start reading it.

It always kind of depends on what review books I might have that need reading, or if I'm on a blog tour, or if I need to work on a challenge I set out for myself. Other times I draw from my TBR jar or if there's a title I really want to read, I'll read that. So I guess it's sort of priority by mood reader! Lol.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Book Blogger Hop
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I have two different piles of books "Needs To Be Read" and "Books I Want To Read". With the latter I'm referring to my personal reads.
DeleteI struggle sometimes. So like you, Greg, usually I have a look at my challenges and see which book on my TBR pile would check off another task. Then I have a look at my blog calendar and see what I’ve got coming up; there’s not point reading a lengthy tome if I’ve got ARCs due. At the moment, I've got a pie of TBRs for the book signing event I'm going to in September too crying out for my attention. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend, Greg.

Flora,
DeleteI believe you have me confused with another blogger. My name is Billy not Greg!
For me, I always read ARCs before my personal reads.
Although sometimes I read by deadline dates, it isn't as often as it could be. I'm too much of a mood reader. And if I feel I have to read a book to meet a deadline too often, I don't enjoy reading as much. It's why I lost interest in activities like reading challenges. That's just me though. I know some people who need or want the structure and it works well for them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend, Billy!
I felt the same way last year when I was reading too many ARC historical romances. I like the genre but after awhile I just got bored with them. This year I've been a bit more selective with my reads.
DeleteI pretty much do what you do...I choose by the promised date of my review for a book. That makes it easy.
ReplyDeleteIt is easier this way.
DeleteHonestly we have a similar approach! Aka, the same approach. Depends on what I have on my TBR/on the blog that week, or depends on my mood. I like to just spontaneously grab a novel every now and again, you know?
ReplyDeleteYes, I know exactly what you mean.
DeleteI am similar. Review commitments come first, but then it's a matter of mood.
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteYeah, that sounds nice. I try and do that, but there's just so many books to read!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean.
