  Billy's Answer

Great question this week! There are many author that I would like to interview. If I had to narrow it down to just one, then I would probably want to interview the horror novelist John Saul. His last book was published in 2009. I would like to ask him, "Why did you retire from writing 10 years ago?"

  1. A good question for John Saul! Maybe he's working on an epic that's taking forever to create?

  2. I've wondered that of many of the authors I've read from years ago. I know with some things it was with sales and what the publisher did and didn't want, but it still saddens me. Especially since some of those series are left unfinished...and that doesn't include any of the cancelled series I have from authors who are still writing!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. Unfinished book series are normally cancelled by the publishers. Typically, authors don't have a say in the decision.

  3. It's been so long I actually forgot about John Saul! I'd want to interview Andy Davidson to understand his work process. How can he be a poet and structure a novel at the same time?

    1. John Saul is an underrated author! I stumbled upon his books when I was a troubled teenager, and since his stories normally have a teenage main character, I easily connected with the books.

  4. I remember reading John Saul when I was younger - Suffer The Little Children was my favourite!

I LOVE this question! My favourite genre is paranormal romance and I’ve already included some of my favourite reads in a recent Top 5 Tuesday post, so of course my answer would be ALL of my go-to authors! Lol! Felicity Heaton, Teresa Gabelman and Dianne Duvall are top of my list though because I just can’t get enough of their stories. They all write female leads with the characteristics I admire; intelligence, resilience, self-reliance (they NEVER wait to be rescued), they have some form of humour be it dry, sarcastic or dirty and have loads of gumption.

  6. This is a good interview question. I have always wondered why authors disappear. But, I know writing great work takes an emotional toll. I will have to find one of Saul's books.

  7. I too often wonder why an author did not continue writing after their last book. of course others, I find that I wonder why they continue writing after their first one. Of course, writing is not truly for our own entertainment. They are written for a plethora of purposes. Ones in which we may never know. Great reason to want to interview John Saul.
