Q&A with Lyn C. Johanson, author of Forged in Fire

Now available is the paranormal romance Forged in Fire, book 2 in the Witch World Series by author Lyn C. Johanson.

The author has taken a few minutes out of her busy schedule for a Q&A about her newest novel.

When did you become interested in storytelling?

When I was a teenager I remember creating all these magical worlds that I wanted to escape to. But only later, years later, did I begin writing it all down.

What was your first book/story published?

The first book I published is called Till Death and Beyond. It is also the first book in my Witch World Series.

What inspired you to write Forged in Fire?

After I finished Till Death and Beyond, I had a few possible directions I could go, and I must admit that I wanted to pursue Dacian (the brother of Raven – the hero in Till Death and Beyond); but Ciaran’s story simply took over my mind.

And since by the end of Book 1 he’d ended up in Hell, I couldn’t pass the opportunity to create my own version of the Underworld.

What character in Forged in Fire is the most/least like you, and in what ways?

Each character has something of me in them.

Ciaran is just as stubborn and impulsive as I am. Though I must admit that I’ve never punched anyone.

And Desiree – she is passionate and likes playing these cat-and-mouse games that I find fascinating.

What is your favorite part in Forged in Fire?

My favorite part (or parts as there are many) is the banter between Ciaran and Desiree. Especially the sarcasm and double entendres in their words.

What was the hardest part to write?

The hardest part for me is writing transition scenes. I love writing both action and emotional scenes, but when it comes to bridging those two together … I find myself stuck sometimes.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn't be an author?

I would love being a graphic designer because it combines both the technical and the artistic worlds.

Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?

I read the bad reviews very carefully because I don’t have as thick a skin as I would like to. A mean review is hard to stomach. But a good review is something that can make my day and put the silliest grin on my face.

What well-known writers do you admire most?

Philippa Gregory. I love how she spins real historical events into these amazing stories. Dan Brown. His books require a crazy amount of research.

Do you have any other books/stories in the works?

I’ve just started working on Book 3 in my Witch World Series.
