Review:

Let's just say that I have never been coordinated enough to  attempt to dance in public. I know that I'm not alone in this as many people out there can't dance. I have always heard that a key to any dancer is a strong core and one way to a strong core is through pilates.

Pilates was started by German-born Joseph Pilates during the early 20th Century. There are now millions of people, including dancers, who practice pilates, which involves muscle control, breathing and concentration.

Pilates for Dancers was released by SalsaCrazy.com and was created for anyone, dancer or non-dancer, to learn the basics of pilates. You'll learn 24 step-by-step exercises that will help you lose weight, strengthen your core and get into shape.

The 24 exercises are:

The Roll Down
Chest Expansion
The Pelvic Tilt
The Bridge
Chest Lift
Chest Lift With Rotation
Preparation For The Hundred
Knee Folds
Double Knee Folds
Spine Supine Twist
Single and Double Leg Stretch
The Bridge More Advanced
The Cat Stretch
The Hundreds
The Hundreds Breathing Explained
Leg Circles
Leg Circle Practice
The Criss-Cross
Seated Spine Twist
Back Support
Side Leg Lifts
Gluteuls
Swimming
Swimming Advanced

While I have never tried a pilates workout before, I do occasionally toss in a yoga workout, even though I'm not flexible. That being said, I noticed that some of the pilates exercises resembles yoga exercises, though pilates is strictly for your core. Pilates for Dancers is an introduction to the pilates world, so each exercise only last a few minutes. The instructor does a great job explaining each exercise step-by-step. Overall, Pilates for Dancers is a simple pilates workout DVD for beginners and it great way to help strength your core.
