Review:

Author Mary Connealy is back in the second installment of the Trouble in Texas series. Fired Up focuses on the mail-ordered bride, Glynna Greer, when her abusive husband, Flint, was murdered by the Regulators. Now it is up to her to raise her two children in a town full of men. To do so, she plans on opening up a diner, but the problem is that she is not very good at cooking.

Her cooking sends a few of the men to the town doctor, Dare Riker, after they become sick. Dare was one of the Regulators that helped saved Glynna and her children from Flint. Dare cares deeply for her, but Glynna isn't looking for love.

Situations occur, and Dare believes someone from his past wants him dead. Could it have something to do with the Civil War traitors? Or could it have something to do with Flint Greer? No matter where he goes, there is danger around every corner.

Can Dare survive the shadowy figure with a knife? Can Dare when Glynna's heart?

I enjoyed reading The Kincaid Brides by the author and I also like her newest series Trouble In Texas. Fired Up does continue some of the events from the previous novel, but it can also be read as a stand-alone novel. I don't normally read other people's reviews before writing my own, but I happened to read a few that didn't think there was enough spark in the book. I completely disagree and I actually think Fired Up is better than book one, Swept Away. The cover doesn't give the book justice, as it looks like the typical romance novel, instead of a western-romance with a hint of mystery. The characters are well written, as well as the intriguing plot and dialogue. Overall, I loved reading Fired Up and I recommend it to both romance and western readers.
