Review:
I have nearly an arsenal of Tae Bo workout DVDs, but I like to mix things up and try something different, leading me to buy the Biggest Loser: Calorie Knockout on eBay. I've seen the occasional episode of the series, but I have never tried any of the workout DVDs, until now. The workout instructors are Bob Harper, Anna Kournikova and Dolvett Quince. The warm-up and cool-down are both short at five minutes. Each circuit is about fifteen minutes.
Circuit #1 is instructed by Anna Kournikova as she slowly takes you through a cardio-sculpt style workout with a little bit of Tae Bo thrown in. You do need some light dumbbells for the exercises. This is more of a warm-up than the actual warm-up. I was never aware that Anna was ever on the Biggest Loser. She may be easy on the eyes, but she isn't the best instructor.
Bob Harper takes control of Circuit #2, which I was dreading as he can be tough on the show. His style is completely different than the others. He focuses more on yoga, light cardio and total body movements. It is not as hard as I thought it was going to be and I ended up liking it.
Dolvett Quince focuses on Tabata in Circuit #3, which is doing twenty seconds of exercise, then 10 minutes of rest, and repeat eight times. It mostly consist of different type of squats and lunges. It is a grueling fifteen minutes as your glues will be on fire.
Calorie Knockout is an interesting workout, which some people may like or dislike. One of the great aspects of the DVD is that you can customize your workout, so if you don't like something, throw it out. I recommend that you take it easy when you are doing the squats as you'll be doing many of them. I felt that circuit 1 & 2 were rushed at the last minute. Only circuit two with Bob Harper felt as if it was planned out in advanced. Even though it isn't the smartest compiled workouts, I still enjoyed doing them. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the Cardio Max Weight-Loss workout DVD.
