Even so, I could hardly imagine that Leonardo would have examined this woman's remains without Valention's permission - any more than he was presently wandering about the countryside absent his employer's instruction.

  4. I love the characters' names. Does the book take place in Italy? I wonder why Leonardo is examining the woman's remains and what that has to do with roaming around the countryside. Lots of questions raised here!
