THE SUNDAY POST, Issue #269 - May 4, 2025

Happy Sunday, Everyone!

Spring has sprung, and with it comes a breath of fresh air—especially for my Sunday Post, which I’m giving a little makeover in hopes of attracting more of you lovely readers! Let’s be honest: my Sunday Posts deserve a bigger audience. I adore writing them, but the process can be quite the time commitment—thinking, writing, curating photos, and editing. So today, I’m keeping it straightforward and to the point!

Just a quick note: I’ll also have a seperate Sunday Post on my Gunsmoke & Grit blog —be sure to hop over there and check it out!

This Past Week...

I watched the heart-pounding Blumhouse thriller, THE DROP, which I reviewed. Also, during Friday's Book Blogger Hop, Page @ Pages of Perfiction posed an intriguing question: "What's your typical process for writing a book review, from reading the book to publishing it on your blog?" I shared my insights there, and it sparked some amazing conversations!

On Gunsmoke & Grit, I took a look at The Gunsmith: Red Mountain by J.R. Roberts and featured The Trailsman: Valley of Death by Jon Sharpe in my Friday 56 post.

Coming Next Week...

I’m excited about the books on my radar! While I don’t have specific dates set yet, I’ll be reviewing Midnight Black by Mark Greaney and Monarch by Ryan Steck, with a few surprise reviews potentially on the horizon if I can carve out the time.

And don’t miss my review of the audiobook Hell's Half Acre: Cold-Blooded by William W. Johnstone & J.A. Johnstone, which I plan to share on either Wednesday or Thursday over at Gunsmoke & Grit.

Bookmarked...

Currently, I’m immersed in Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Toward the Night by James Swallow.

New to the Bookshelf...

I recently added 25 Alive by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro and Pirate by Ted Bell to my collection. I’ve also unearthed some fantastic thrift store treasures: The Novel by James A. Michener, Cannibal Reign by Thomas Koloniar, Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Dominion by Eric Van Lustbader, and Survivors by James Wesley Rawles.

And can we talk about the thrill of clearance finds? I snagged four Clive Cussler books—Medusa, The Jungle, Lost Empire, and Cyclops—all for just $2 each at Half-Price Books!

New on My Kindle...

My Kindle library just got a makeover with titles like Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda: Waystation by Steven E. McDonald, Paradise Drift by Sherwood Smith, and several Star Trek gems including War Dragons by L.A. Graf and The Wisdom of Picard, edited by Chip Carter.

How has your week been? What captivating reads are keeping you company right now?
