Now they were gone, dust and broken bones, but the Vanner brothers galloped through as if they were remnants of that savagery, as if they were an echoing of that abrupt viloence, as if here was still, the throbbing of that blood.

My Thoughts
Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I joined in on The Friday 56, but today I’m excited to share a line from the Western novel "Hanging Justice," published in 1975. This is the second book in the Slocum series, which is credited to the pen name Jake Logan, though this particular title was actually penned by Raphael Hayes. It’s a gritty and straightforward Western that doesn't hold back. I'm currently on page 56, and since it's a short read, I anticipate finishing it by tonight!
That cover. Oh my. I am laughing so loud you can probably hear me. Ha!
ReplyDeleteThe first printing features a different cover. I'm not sure why the publishers chose this artwork for the reprint. It was the late1970s, and it worked; the series lasted until 2014. The artwork in the later books looks much better.
