Have you ever felt completely burnt out—physically, emotionally, and mentally? Well, that’s precisely what I’ve been experiencing when it comes to writing, blogging, and even reading. After a much-needed short break, I’m back and bursting with renewed focus!
What Am I Reading?
Song of the Week
What's in the Mailbox?
The lone book that recently arrived at my door is Goosebumps: House of Shivers: Say My Name! Say My Name! by R.L. Stine—not an ARC, but a personal treat I just had to get my hands on!
What's New on the Bookshelf?
A couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t resist picking up This is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter in paperback—it’s screaming for my attention.
And just this past week, I snagged the latest addition to the Hunger Games saga, Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, alongside The Writer by James Patterson and J.D. Barker.
Exciting times ahead! I’ve made not one, but two thrilling trips to the local Salvation Army since my last Sunday Post! During my first visit, I scored Almost Dead by Lisa Jackson, Desolation Mountain by William Kent Krueger, and Carioca Fletch by Gregory McDonald.
My second visit was even more of a treasure hunt, where I unearthed an array of Tony Hillerman paperbacks: The Dark Wind, Listening Woman, The Ghostway, The First Eagle, Sacred Clowns, Hunting Badger, The Shape Shifter, The Fly on the Wall, and Finding Moon.
At a charming humane thrift store, I stumbled upon more gems: Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Objective and The Bourne Ascendancy (both by Eric Van Lustbader), Larry Bond’s Red Phoenix, and Against All Enemies by Tom Clancy with Peter Telep—talk about winning the book lottery!
I didn’t check out any books at the library, but I couldn’t resist the “free” section! I walked away with several Classics of the Old West by Time-Life Books: The Vigilantes of Montana by Prof. Thos. J. Dimsdale, Life in the Far West by George Frederick Ruxton, and many more, and To Hell on a Fast Horse by Mark Lee Gardener, Darkest Fear by Harlan Coben, etc.—just the kind of thrilling reads I crave!
On my Kindle, new titles are keeping me buzzing: Everville by Clive Barker, The Black Hills by William W. Johnstone, Monsters of the Week: The Complete Critical Companion to The X-Files by Zack Handlen and Emily Todd VanDerWerff, as well as exciting reads like Dangerous Grounds and Cold Choices by Larry Bond, Day Shift by Charlaine Harris, and Choke Hold by Christa Faust. So much to read, so little time—let’s dive in!
Oh wow! You scored big this week at your local stops! That's amazing! I try checking out places like Salvation Army or other secondhand stores for books but sadly never seem to find anything. It's been awhile since I stepped into a Half Price Books even! Hopefully I can make my way back there sometime soon just to see what there is to see!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy all of your new reads and they can help to alleviate your reading funk! Those are never fun from what I hear. Happy Reading!
