{Sunday Post} — The Girl from Widow Hills, Midnight on Beacon Street, and Somebody I Used to Know

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

  • Sorry, no tidbits this week.

What Am I Currently Reading?

Another week has gone by—another week of not reading much. I'm on page 186 in Heat 2; it's been great so far, but I haven't had much time to sit and read. I haven't started Let's Go Play at Adams', but I need to get cracking on it in the next few days. Eventually, I'll get around to Command and Control, though I might read Star Trek: Picard: Firewall beforehand.

What's New in the Mailbox?

There were a lot of new books from publishers in the mail this past week: The House of Last Resort by Christopher Golden, Midnight on Beacon Street by Emily Ruth Verona, and Missing Persons: A Private Novel by James Patterson and Adam Hamdy.

I got another Hamilton Books order in the mail: The Store by Bentley Little, The Complete Alien Collection: Symphony of Death featuring the novels The Cold Forge by Alex White, Prototype by Tim Waggoner, and Into Charybdis by Alex White.

What's New on the Shelf?

I hadn't planned on picking up any new releases this week, but once I saw the paperback cover for The Girl from Widow Hill, I had to have it.

I stopped by two antique malls on Wednesday. Surprisingly, I found several Fear Street paperbacks by R.L. Stine; I rarely see these anymore in the wild. I picked up three paperbacks: Ski Weekend for $3, Halloween Party for $3, and Collector's Edition #7: Deadly Games (The Fire Game, Night Games, and Truth and Dare) for $5.

Also, I got David Bell's Somebody I Used to Know for $4.

Additionally, I picked up four William W. Johnstone three-book western bundles, $1.75 to $2 per bundle. Only a few of these titles were actually by William W. Johnstone. After he died in 2004, his niece, J.A. Johnstone, continued writing his Westerns. So, any cover with "and J.A. Johnstone" printed on it is written by his niece. Anyway, the titles I bought are Return of the Mountain Man, Code of the Mountain Man, Fury of the Mountain Man, Betrayal of the Mountain Man, Ordeal of the Mountain Man, Law of the Mountain Man, Dead For a Dollar, The Fighting O'Neils, Marked For Death, Rising Fire, The Troubleshooters, and Nathan Stark: Army Scout.

Yeah—I bought The Klingon Dictionary yesterday off of Kindle for 99 cents.
