My Review

I remember seeing a paperback of THE HIDING PLACE by Corrie Ten Boom (with John and Elizabeth Sherrill) on my mother's nightstand over thirty-plus years ago. Despite my love for reading, it was one of the rare childhood books I never read. Also, I don't recall ever overhearing my mother talking about the book, but the plot has strangely held a prominent place in my mind. Before watching the newest version of THE HIDING PLACE, I knew what it was about; I even knew about the 1975 film, and I'm positive I've never seen it.

This new version is a cinematic presentation of the stage adaptation—like a play performed on a stage but filmed like a feature film with cameras. The cinematography was a standout, and after a while, I didn't even notice everything takes place on a stage. The acting from the entire cast is a phenomenon.

THE HIDING PLACE is a stirring tale that will compel and move viewers to love and care for their neighbors more intensely. It's a motivational movie that will undoubtedly prompt discussion and interaction. ╌★★★★★
