  Billy's Answer

I started reading Diane Carey's The Dominion War: Book Two (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) towards the end of December, but I didn't complete it until January 2. Doesn't that qualify as my first read of the year? If not, The Dominion War: Part Three (Star Trek: The Next Generation) by John Vornholt was my first (or second) read for 2023.

  1. I say you count your first book of the year however you want. I never have read any of the Star Trek novels. Sounds like you are enjoying them.

    1. The Star Trek novels differ depending on who is writing them.

  2. I would say the first one counts. You were reading it at the first of the year even if it was started in the last days of 2022. My read might have been one of those...but honestly, New Years was so fast I can't quite remember if I started this the 30th or the 1st. Lol.

    Here's my BBH

  3. I counted mine as the first book I finished in 2023. It also happened to be the first book I reviewed.

    Happy New Year!

  4. Considering the fact that what I said my first read of 2023 was is something I also started in 2022, I'd say yes to your question. Happy new year!

  5. I didn't read anything that I knew I wouldn't finish, so I essentially gave myself 2 days off from reading at New Years Eve Eve, and New Years Eve. LOL.... I was bored af.

    1. There's nothing wrong with taking a few days off from reading.

  7. If I had to be a 'judge' I'd say it counts however you want. :) But if you finish it in this year, I agree that it should count for this year. Hope you have lots more good books in 2023.

  8. I believe that counts! I haven't finished any books yet. I'm still working on one I started in December. Have a great weekend! :-)
