{Sunday Post} - Ashley Bell, James Patterson, and Offseason

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

  • With all advanced technology, you would think meteorologists could predict the exact route of storms, but every time they have rain in the forecast for my county, nothing happens!
  • I'm refusing to mow the yard in 100+ weather. I'm waiting for the humidity and the pollen count to drop.
  • When the heat rises, my internet bandwidth falls. Plus, there's been several cable outages. (Yes, I still have high-price cable.)
  • The old AC Unit is acting up again. The repairman is supposed to take a look at it sometime this week.v
  • The Kansas City Royals have won three-straight wins! Their dead last in the American League Central Divison at 23-41. Hey, they're only 13 games behind.
  • After watching Friday's Dateline, I believe Amber Heard is living in a different reality - Amberville.

What Am I Reading?

My reading plans changed slightly. Instead of reading Sand of Dune, I jumped into Open Season by C.J. Box. It's the very-first Joe Picket novel and the basis for the first season of Joe Picket, which is currently airing on Sundays on Paramount+. I started reading it a tad after midnight on Saturday, and I'm on Chapter 15 (page 120 or 37%).

Once again, the contenders for my next read are Sounds of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, Goosebumps SlappyWorld: Slappy in Dreamland by R.L. Stine, James Patterson: Stories of My Life by James Patterson, or The Songs That Could Have Been by Amanda Wen.

What's in the Mail?

Since I couldn't find the memoir James Patterson: The Stories of My Life in any stores in my area, I ordered it from Amazon, which arrived on my doorstep yesterday afternoon.

RLJ Entertainment sent over the horror film Offseason. It came out on June 14th, but I didn't receive my copy until the 15th. I already watched it and intended to have my review posted on Saturday. Due to the lagging internet, I haven't published the review yet.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

The world might be coming to an end because Dollar General added new books to their paperback rack. I picked up Ashely Bell by Dean Koontz. Dollar Tree also restocked its book section. I got News of Our Loved Ones by Abigail DeWitt, The Orphan Collector by Ellen Marie Wiseman, and Sealed by Naomi Booth.

  1. I won't mow when it's that hot either. I'll let it cool down first or do it early in the morning. And go Royals!! :)

    Amberville... love it. :)

I never think to look for books at Dollar tree. I guess I forgot they carried them.

  2. We are the same way with rain. They've predict rain for us, and then we are lucky if we get any. And since we really need it here in So Cal, that's becoming more and more of an issue.

  3. Ugh, yeah our heat has been awful too. It's just unbearable to be in. Even when getting the mail. Bummer that the internet wants to act up during the heat too. That's a new one for me. Honestly catching all of Heard's latest headlines online just has me laughing out loud to the point of tears. It's so ridiculous!

Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

  4. What a bad time to have AC issues! I watched the whole trial and I agree with you about Amber.

  5. I don't look at the weather unless absolutely necessary and even then it's often wrong!

    Some good looking books there!

Have a great weekend and week ahead!

  6. Oh my goodness, you are so right about the storms! We were supposedly in the direct line for the tornado last week, the sirens went off, my neighbors drove up to the closed down mall's underground parking lot, and I just stayed in my bed and watched the news as they showed the path and it was supposedly coming directly for me. And....nothing. Not even any bad winds or more than a few sprinkles. Crazy. We've had some power outages around here too the last few weeks. Not fun! Hope you have a good week!
