[Review] - Sons of Thunder: Redemption Episode 3 "Cowboys and Cowgirls"

Sons of Thunder: Redemption premiered on Pure Flix on January 13th. It's a spinoff of Sons of Thunder starring Randal Reeder as Simon, a former Devil's Hands biker gang member who goes on the road after finding a Bible. The spinoff follows a different character - Jacob Lewis. He's another ex-Devil's Hand member who's looking for redemption for his past wrongs after being released from prison.

In the first episode, Finding Sandy, Jacob talks about crossing paths with Simon, though the character never appears. Simon told him there was another way to live his life by putting your faith in Jesus Christ. Upon Jacob's prison release, he takes off on a Harley Davidson to search for his ex-love Sandy (Charlene Amoia). He finds her working and living at the Gibson Ranch in California, owned by Mike and Linda Gibson (Lew Temple and Kristy Swanson).

In episode 2, To Save Gibson's Ranch, Jacob takes a temporary job as a hired hand at the horse ranch. After talking about the Brady Bunch to the Gibsons' son, Cooper (Wyatt Walter), the boy comes up with the idea to have a rodeo to help save the ranch from being foreclosed by the bank.

Now, this brings us to the third episode, "Cowboys and Cowgirls," which begins with Jacob quoting from the Bible - "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life." – Psalm 143:8 (NIV).

Two new characters make their debuts - Addison and Vicky. Addison (Angeline Appel) has a run-in with the Devil's Hand members when her jeep overheats on the road. Logan (Tyler Johnson) comes along on his motorcycle and rescues from the situation. His father was a Devil's Hand member, and to show his loyalty to the gang, Logan has tracked down Jacob and has taken a job at the Gibson's Ranch.

FWI - Jacob doesn't know Logan's connection to the Devil's Hand. He doesn't know Logan's connection to the Devil's Hand. s far as Jacob knows, Logan is just another hired hand.

Addison is a champion barrel racer and will participate in the upcoming rodeo event at Gibson's Ranch. She brings her 'like a big sister' friend, Vicky (Anna Zielinski). Zielinksi is the series executive producer and played Stephanie in one episode of Sons of Thunder. Does Vicky know how to ride a horse? Nope. Vicky doesn't have a clue what she is doing.

Other Bible verses in this episode are - Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33 and Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? – 2 Corinthians 6:14.

Final Thoughts

Cowboys and Cowgirls is the best episode of the series yet. Logan's arrival at the ranch will bring extra drama. Jacob doesn't know that Logan is a spy for the Devil's Hand. Trust will become a running theme in future episodes.

The two new characters, Addison and Vicky, are instantly likable. Addison seems most likely to be a love interest for Logan, but we'll have to see how that plays out.

Overall, Cowboys and Cowgirls was an excellent episode. I recommend watching Sons of Thunder: Redemption at https://app.pureflix.com/series/475931174699/sons-of-thunder-redemption.
