Sunday Post - Dune, Foxworth, and Star Trek

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Did anyone notice that I skipped last week's Sunday Post?

Well, technically, I haven't posted a Sunday Post in three weeks, though I did put up a Monday Morning Madness on June 22nd. My life has been hectic for the past month and I've fallen a bit behind on reviews. Currently, I have 11 or 12 DVDs/Blu-rays and 8 paperbacks piled up on desk that I need to write reviews for, as well as several eBooks on my Kindle. My lack of time isn't my only excuse. There have been multiple internet outages and computer update issues, so when I did have free time, I couldn't post anything.

Last weekend, I purchased a new laptop, though, for some odd reason, I'm using my 10-year-old laptop to write this post. Eventually, I'll get all my files moved over to the new computer. I bought all the needed accessories (portable DVD drive, Bluetooth mouse, and a clear keyboard cover), so I don't have excuses as to why I haven't used it.

Also, my old Galaxy S4 is going to become extinct soon, so I had to buy a new phone.

What Am I Reading?

I'm struggling to read Shadows of Foxworth by V.C.Andrews, which is written by Andrew Neiderman. Like the previous ghostwriter titles, this one is written badly. I'm going to push through and finish reading it, just so I can write a critical review.

What's in the Mail?

Shadows of Foxworth is the only book I have received in the mail. No, it's not an ARC. I purchased the book from Amazon.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

Two weeks ago tomorrow, I picked up Twilight Zone: The Movie by Robert Bloch, Extinct by Charles Wilson, Dark Companions by Ramsey Campbell, and Star Trek: Academy: Collision Course by William Shatner (with Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens).

Recent books on my Kindle are Firefly: Big Damn Hero by James Lovegrove, Younger by Pamela Redmond, Star Trek: DS9: The Long Mirage by David R. George III, Star Trek: TNG: Prechance to Dream by Howard Weinstein, Star Trek: TNG: Balance of Power by Dafydd ab Hugh, Star Trek: Voyager: Death of a Neutron Star by Eric Kotani, Star Trek: DS9: Fearful Symmetry by Olivia Woods, Denis Bracknel by Forrest Reid, and Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert.

Younger might seem like the oddball of the eBooks, but I like the television series adaptation. I didn't know the series is based on a book until I saw it on sale. I only got Chapterhouse: Dune because it was on sale for $1.99. I now own books 2 and 6! Denis Bracknel is Valancourt Books $2.99 book deal of the month; though I have never heard of the book (or the author) before, I thought it would give it a read. Everyone already knows that I'm a Trekker, so there's no reason for me to explain why I got all of July's $.99 titles. I'm also a Firefly fan!

  1. Moving things from one computer to the new is time consuming and I am sure the spotty internet isn't helping. My last time I moved what I wanted to Dropbox and had zero issues.

Are you going to get the newest Galaxy? I have the 8 and usually give it to one of my kids but I don't want to pay $60 a month for it..ha!

  2. My laptop is 10 years old too! I really want a new one, but I can’t justify spending money when this one still works. Have a great week!

    1. I was having many issues with my old laptop, so I didn't have much of a choice. Either get one now or wait until the old one official quits.

  3. Internet outages are the worst. And looks like you have some nice Star trek reading coming up!

    Good luck with the backlog!

    1. I haven't had much luck on my backlog. I've been busy for the majority of the week with errands and other things. As I am writing this, I have only posted one review this week and I haven't read anymore on Shadows of Foxworth.

I have no idea when I'll get to the Star Trek book; though it might be sooner than later.

  4. A new laptop is exciting! Although, I hate having to transfer everything over and download all my programmes... Good luck!

    1. There weren't too many programs to download on the new laptop. I only transferred a few documents and left everything else on a flash drive. The laptop has an extra drive of 1T, so there's plenty of space to store all of my music, which took me forever to transfer.
