Blu-ray Review - James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction (2018)

Today on Blu-ray (Amazon) and DVD from RLJ Entertainment (AMC Studios) is 2018’s documentary miniseries James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction, featuring all 6-episodes on a 2-disc set.

There’s no bigger name in the world of science fiction than James Cameron (the director of Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, The Abyss, and Avatar), so it shouldn’t be a shocker he wanted to make the ultimate documentary about science fiction movie and television series.

The six-part (45 minutes each) miniseries covers aliens, space, monsters, dark futures, intelligent machines, and time machines. It features interviews by James Cameron with A-list filmmakers, actors, writers, and many others who have all dabbled in the world of science fiction at one point or another in their careers, such as George Lucas, Ridley Scott, Chris Nolan, Guillermo Del Toro, Keanu Reeves, Christopher Nolan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Smith, and Sigourney Weaver.

Final Thoughts

For some reason, I missed out on watching James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction when it originally aired on AMC in 2018. It's a good thing RLJ Entertainment released it to Blu-ray, so sci-fi fans like me can watch it

The Blu-ray's picture and sound qualities are excellent. Special Features include extended interviews with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, Guillermo Del Toro, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Overall, James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction is a well put together documentary series. It's not perfect, as it's mostly Mr. Cameron and his buddies talking about what they like about the genre, but I found it to be entertaining.
