Sunday Post - Emma, The Satan Sleuth, and The Silent Room

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

When you can't fall asleep, there's nothing better to do than watching stuntmen wearing monster suits. To be more precise, I finished watching The Ultraman Orb: The Origin Saga series and followed by the 30-minute Ultra Fight Orb. Then, oddly, I watched the newest adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma. Weird pairing?

What Am I Reading?

I just started reading The Satan Sleuth: The Fallen Angel by Michael Avallone, which is the first in the horror trilogy. I will read all three horror books back-to-back.

What's in the Mail?

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment kindly sent me Emma on Blu-ray. I don’t remember ever requesting to review the movie, but, nevertheless, I viewed in it in the wee hours this morning. Expect me to post the review on Tuesday, which is the Blu-ray’s release day.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

My to-be-read pile keeps getting bigger. I picked up two hardbacks at Dollar Tree - The Silent Room by Mari Hannah and Our Little Secret by Roz Nay. The Silent Room sounds very familiar to me. It was first published in the USA in January 2018. Our Little Secret is a psych thriller, first published in 2017. The original price tag of $14.99 is still on the cover. FYI: I only paid a $1 for each title.

It seems Walmart is a week off in stocking their books. I found The 20th Victim by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro last Monday.

New titles on my Kindle are: The Shining by Stephen King, Offbeat by Richard Matheson, and Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon.

  2. That does sound like an interesting pairing! I should really wtch some Ultraman. I remember Jet Jaguar kind of fondly from when I was little watching Toho movies.

  3. My daughter is doing Emma at school so we watched both the Gwyneth Paltrow version and the new adaption the other week. I liked the new one better mostly.

Wishing you a great reading week
