In all his wanderings he had avoided mountains, especially the jagged monsters that broke the country in two.

  My Thoughts

I should already be reading Doctor Sleep by Stephen King when the post goes live on Friday. Due to the film adaptation being released today, I reread The Shining earlier in the week and now I'm rereading the 2013 sequel.

    1. Whoops! I meant to schedule this post for Friday morning and not today. I'll change the date from Nov. 7th to Nov. 8th but still leave the post up.

Doctor Sleep is a bit underrated in my opinion. Too many readers kept comparing it to The Shining, when it actually has a completely different plot. The same thing goes with the early reviews I have read for the Doctor Sleep movie, where moviegoers keep comparing it to the 1980 movie, which leaves out most of King's novel. The Doctor Sleep movie is attempting to be a sequel to both The Shining novel and the 1980 film.

I doubt if I'll see the movie in the theares. My town's one-screen theatre just entered into the "school play" season, so I'm taking a wild guess it won't be playing movies to sometime in January and the movie will most likely be the new Star Wars movie as Star Wars 7 & 8 were played there about a month after their release dates. It doesn't bother me a bit because anymore it only takes studios three months to release a movie to Blu-ray/DVD, which is cheaper to buy than getting a movie ticket, popcorn, and a soda.

  3. I've only read 'The Shining' so far but enjoyed King's writing style a lot. I'll definitely be on the look out for more of his books, although I'm hoping to read 'Salem's Lot' next :)

  4. Oh, I've been wanting to read this one, since I've heard good things about it! Love that description of mountains as monsters. I also had no idea that this book was the sequel to The Shining. Where have I been?!
