Description
The long winter is here. Throughout seven thrilling episodes, the penultimate Season 7 focuses on a convergence of armies and attitudes that have been brewing for years. As the seasons begins, Daenerys Targaryen - accompanied by her Unsullied army and emboldened by Dothraki/Ironborn allies and her lethal trio of dragons - has finally set sail for Westeros with Tyrion Lannister, her newly appointed Hand. Jon Snow has apparently consolidated power in the North after his spectacular conquest of Ramsay Bolton and the return of Winterfell to Stark control. In King's Landing, Cersei Lannister, bereft of any surviving heirs, has successfully seized the Iron Throne. But as these and others factions drive towards new alliances or (more likely) violent conflicts, the cold specter of another, apocalyptic threat - in the form of an army of undead White Walkers - threatens to undermine the status quo and obliterate the outcome of these smaller, all-too-human rivalries.

As an added bonus, there's an extra disc, titled "Conquest & Rebellion: An Animated History Of The Seventh Kingdoms," featuring the voice-cast of Sophie Turner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldua, Pilou Asbæk, Aidan Gillen, Conleth Hill, and Harry Lloyd. The 45-minute animated storybook is written by show writer Dave Hill.
While I'm well aware that there were a some fans that complained about the seventh season's fast pacing, I actually had no problems with it. Considering there are only 7 episodes instead of the usual 10, I prefer the faster pace. The seventh season gives us fans the reunion of remaining Stark children at Winterfell, as well as the alliance between John Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. There's even more action this season with several battles, along with three fire-breathing dragons, and an army of the dead.
The entire cast gives great performances and the special effects are incredible. The picture & sound quality on the DVD set are topnotch. There are two featurettes and 11 audio commentaries on the DVD set, as well as the bonus disc containing the animated storybook-style prequel.
Overall, I enjoyed watching the Game of Thrones: The Complete Seventh Season DVD. The season (and the entire series) is definitely binge-worthy! The DVD set will make a great gift for any Games of Thrones fan this holiday season!
