Review:

Arriving on DVD this week is the computer-animated family from ARC Entertainment, titled Adventure Planet. The film is directed by Kompin Kemgumnird and features the voice talents of Brooke Shields, Jane Lynch, Bailee Madison and J.K. Simmons. There are no special features or bonus features on disc.

Adventure Planet (originally released in Thailand under the title Echo Planet) centers on a Boy Scout named Sam, who happens to be the son of the president of the Capital State, but he isn't exactly your typical scout, as he is equiped with all the new electronic gadgets. Suddenly, all of his gadgets go haywire, leaving Sam a bit confused that is until he runs into a brother and sister, Norava and Jorpe, and their people living in the rainforest of Thailand, whom informs him that Mother Nature is fighting back against the world because of Global Warming.

Meanwhile there is a global threat around the world, as a deadly living organsims has mutated from the accumlated carbon in the atmosphere, which was created from the Global Warming. These organsims can cause machines to come to life, causing chaos around the world. It is up to Sam and his two new friends to save the world by convincing everyone to give up electricty and reboot Mother Nature.

Similar to a couple other animation films in recent years, Adventure Planet pushes the Global Warming warning a little too much, though this tale does have a more science fiction plot with the new organisms taking over Earth. Considering the flim's low buget, the computer animation looks decent, especially the rainforest scenes. While there are plenty of jokes and action scenes to enterain children, adults may get bored with the slow pacing and the Global Warming push. Overall, Adventure Planet is an interesting science fiction adventure on a global scale.
