Monday Morning Madness #22: I Put the "Pro" in Procrastination!

I have a slight problem with procrastinating! Does anybody else having this problem? I keep putting off my fiction writing; I mostly complain that I don't have enough time to write, when I have plenty of time. It only takes five minutes here and five minutes there to begin a short story or novel.

I received Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inspiration for Writers in the mail on Friday and I'm about half way through it. The stories are written by writers (bestsellers and newbies) & even bloggers. The forty-four stories I have read so far have really lifted my spirits and have given me new encouragement to begin a daily writing routine, even it if is only fifteen minutes. Blogging and writing reviews doesn't count!

My plan is to start my daily routine today!

I do have one short story accepted into an online magazine. I worked on the recommend edits over the weekend. I still have haven't written the new children story I came up with last week, maybe I'll work on it today as part of my daily routine.

The Harlequin books are still piled up, but I still plan (more like hope) on reading them sometime. I think I even have a few of the free ones on my Kindle. I do have many books to review, but I'm a fast reader, so it shouldn't take me long to read them when I'm not procrastinating.

  1. I definitely have the procrastination bug. I have 4 or 5 ideas sitting in my google docs waiting to be fully flushed. But like you I dont have a whole lot of extra time, except at night and well sometimes sleep is good, right? I am interested to hear more about the routine you come up with and how it works for you.

I genuinely cherish the thoughts and insights of my readers, and I wholeheartedly welcome your engagement. However, to foster a truly constructive dialogue, I’ll be keeping a careful eye on the comments section. This means I’ll be moderating to weed out any spammy detritus, overly harsh critiques, or contributions that don’t add anything meaningful to the conversation. Think of it as my little corner of the internet—a space where everyone can share their perspectives without the noise. Let’s make this a place where ideas can flourish and grow, rather than wither away in the shadows of irrelevance.
