Review:

Author Tricia Goyer is back with the second installment in the Seven Brides For Seven Bachelors series, which I received a free copy from Litfuse Publicity and Zondervan in exchange for my honest review.

The Promise Book takes place in the Amish community of West Kootenai, Montana, where single Amish men travel to and stay for six months, typically from the spring to the fall. These men are there to hunt, but the majority of them leave with brides.

Lydia Wise had left the Amish lifestyle years ago. She has been living in Seattle, Washington as a book editor, but she returns to Kootenai after her mother's death. While going through her mother's belongings, she discovers a Promise box containing scriptures and prayers that slowly brings her closer to her Amish heritage.

While taking a picture of the beautiful scenery, she has a not to friendly encounter with Amish bachelor Gideon Hooley, but before long there are sparks between them. Lydia wants to return to the Amish life, but the community may not forgive her past betrayal.

I read many Amish fiction titles each year and Tricia Goyer is one of my favorite authors of the genre. The Promise Box is a well written romantic sequel that is just as good as the first. I was hooked into the plot by the end of the first chapter. Overall, I enjoyed reading The Promise Box and I'm looking forward to book three.

  2. Wow! I posted this review in 2013, back when Litfuse Publicity Group was still in business. For some odd reason, my review has been getting quite a bit of pageviews this month.
