Chloe Humphrey is enjoying her life working at a college in Appleseed Creek, Ohio, but her life is turned upside down when she is informed that house that she rents with her roommate Becky has a new owner who plans on remodeling and selling the house.
Someone is going around the community grabbing Amish girls and cutting their hair. Chloe finds a body of an Amish man. He had been murdered and his beard has been shaved off. An elderly Amish man is pushed up against his own horse & buggy and someone cuts his beard off!
B&H Books and NetGalley were nice enough to let me read an advanced copy of next year's A Plain Scandal. I have never read the other book in the series, but this book is more a stand-alone even though I presume that the same characters were used in both books. I have read dozens of Amish fiction and the Amish community in this book seems to be more liberal compared to the others. I instantly liked the main character Chloe, who is kind of at the wrong place at the wrong time and she gets stuck into a murder mystery! You'll be scratching your head wondering who the real killer/killers identity is. If you like reading Amish fiction or if you just like reading a good mystery, then you'll enjoy reading A Plain Scandal!
