In this dark fantasy novel, tells the tale of a young man, Fezariu, whose mother was a prostitute. Until the age of twelve he believed that his mother was dead, when actually she was working in a popular brothel. Their reunion was nothing but a disaster as she rejected, making Fezariu to make a life changing decision of becoming one of the Merelax Mercenaries. Years later a mission requires him to return to his home town where he learns the real reason why his mother wanted nothing to do with. Fueling with rage, he wants nothing other than revenge.
I don’t get a chance to read many fantasy novels, so I was eager to start reading Fezariu’s Epiphany. The first part of the book is somewhat slow pacing, but the plot does pickup midway through. You can’t help but feel for the main character Fezariu as he has been through many emotional trauma in his life and not really connecting with anyone, besides for a few mercenary friends. The character kept reminding me of John Snow from A Song of Fire and Ice series, a young man that was born into a dark world of rejection. The author creatively uses vivid descriptions and sharp dialogue, keeping me interested in the story. Overall, I enjoyed reading this haunting tale and I am sure fantasy readers will love it.

Brown could be considered a fantasy fanatic, especially since he has
spent the last 10 years developing a 47,000-year history for his
fictional world of Elenchera. When converting his obsession into
literary form, David commits himself to a rigorous writing and
editing process before his work can meet his approval. Combined with
the critical eye of his wife and a BA Honors in History and English,

Although
David is inspired primarily by fantasy fiction, he also finds his
muse in the form of anime, world cinema, history, and biographies.
His own books, Fezariu's Epiphany and the in-progress A World Apart,
combine aspects from worlds both old and new into compelling tales of
a world not soon forgotten., David himself certainly does not lack a
spirit of adventure; in fact, he left his job in 2007 in order to
spend a month traveling. Second only to meeting and marrying his
wife, David counts this as one of the most amazing experiences of his
life.

I'm glad you enjoyed the review. I did want some action in the novel but not to the extent that it detracted from the heart of the story which is Fezariu's battles with himself and the past.
the beginning of this review kind of turned me off to it until you said mercenary and it got my attention. Over all it sounds like a good book I'll have to give it a read.
