 Top 5 Country Singing Actresses

Many of our favorite ladies in country music have shown the world that their beautiful singing voices are not the only talent they possess. Stars such as Dolly Parton and Jana Kramer have wowed the audience with their acting abilities. Here, we highlight our five favorite country-singing actresses.

Jana Kramer

In her latest project, the beautiful Jana Kramer plays the role of Faith in the touching love story Heart of the Country. Her songs “Why Ya Wanna” and “Whiskey” have made her stand out as a country artist and led her to win the ACM Award for Top New Female Artist in 2013. However, this country girl got her start on the screen in 2002. She is most well-known for her role in One Tree Hill as Alex Dupree but has also played a part in Prom Night, Click, and 90210. Jana’s impressive ability to balance her singing and acting career places her at the top of our list.

Dolly Parton

One of the first names that people think of in relation to country music is Dolly Parton. This country legend has gained many different hall of fame honors including the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Songs such as “I Will Always Love You” and “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” stand out among some of country’s greatest hits. Dolly’s talents do not stop with her musical career. Her role as Truvy Jones in Steel Magnolias gave her a name in the pool of actresses. Some of her other notable films include Nine to Five and Joyful Noise.

Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough seems to have it all together! Her dancing, singing, and acting talents have proved she is a triple threat. In her most recent film, Safe Haven, Julianne demonstrated her ability to create perfect on-screen chemistry. Rock of Ages allowed her to combine her singing and acting skills while Burlesque and Footloose had Julianne dancing and acting on the big screen.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has certainly made a name for herself in the music industry, winning award after award for her beautiful lyrics and catchy tunes. In more recent years, she has taken to the stage as well and made appearances in many well-known films and TV shows. She made her first appearance on the screen in a 2009 episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Taylor also played the role of Felicia in the film Valentine’s Day and most recently had a guest appearance on the season 2 finale of New Girl. She even tried her hand at voice acting in the animated film The Lorax. We can’t wait to see what this big star does next!
