TikTok’s Best Books: A Review of The Top Viral Titles

These days, social media is all about viral content. Whether it's on YouTube, Twitter or Instagram, there's always a new meme, hashtag, or trend that everyone is talking about. One of the most popular apps for discovering these trends is TikTok, and its user base of more than 1 billion active users ensures that new trends are constantly popping up.

One area where the app has really excelled in the past year is its book recommendations. From classics to bestsellers, TikTok's algorithm has recommended some truly amazing titles for people to read.

In this article, we'll review some of the top books being recommended on this platform and why they have become so popular among users.

[Review]—Dean Koontz's "The House at the End of the World" is a Curiously Unusual Thriller

I've been trying to remember which Dean Koontz novel I read first all morning. I kept telling myself it was Phantasms (Buy on Paperback or Kindle), which I presumably read after watching the mediocre 1998 Ben Affleck movie adaptation. But after giving it some more thought, I realized that it was Hideaway (Buy on Paperback or Kindle) since I can still clearly recall looking for a copy after seeing the 1995 adaptation starring Jeff Goldblum and Alicia Silverstone. Let's say I was a teenager when I found Dean Koontz, and I'll be 42 later this year and continue reading his novels. That speaks something about the author's impact on readers; they stick with him over time.

Weekly Tidbits

  • The good news, I suppose, is that the Kansas City Chiefs won their playoff game yesterday. The team is still not doing well. They appear to deteriorate with each game. It will be pure luck if they win the AFC Championship this year.

When Did Collecting Geeky Stuff Become Popular in Our Culture?

Nowadays, both kids and adults alike dress in nerdy t-shirts. Even though I reside in a small town in the Midwest, I see them everywhere. The world has evolved. Because I was afraid of being labeled odd, nerdy, or geeky during my childhood in the 1980s and 1990s, I would never have worn such a t-shirt. Though I was worried about being teased, I wanted to wear Star Trek, Star Wars, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer t-shirts. Because I'm a bookish loner, I got bullied from middle school to my senior year in high school. Yes, I got tormented by my peers for reading books. It was probably a bad idea for me to bring a Star Trek: Generations novelization into an 8th-grade science class.

[Review]—"Dune: The Heir of Caladan" is a Flawed but Engaging Conclusion to the Prequel Trilogy

I apologize for the delay in posting this review, but here I am with my thoughts on Dune: The Heir of Caladan, the third and final book of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's Caladan Trilogy. Did you notice the keyword "trilogy"? You must have read Dune: The Duke of Caladan and Dune: The Lady of Caladan before reading the third since several narrative aspects continue. And, given that the trilogy takes place a year earlier, it wouldn't hurt to read Frank Herbert's Dune beforehand.

{Sunday Post}—Chainfire, Nothing More Dangerous, and The Sacred Bridge

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

Weekly Tidbits

  • I'm back as an Amazon affiliate. Yes, I've previously signed up for this program, but I've never fulfilled the "three sales in the first 180 days" criterion. I've only had time to add purchase links (mainly for Kindle eBooks) to this post. Additionally, the sidebar contains a Kindle search engine. I want to meet the three sale criteria; so I can stay in the program this time. I'm only letting everyone know what's going on with the Amazon links in this post; nobody has to buy anything.

  • I finally got my hands on a Halloween Ends Blu-ray; it came in the mail today (Saturday). I'll watch it as soon as I get the post set up for Sunday.
