Review:

From 1982 to 1991, twelve animated specials based on Jim Davis' comic strip Garfield aired on CBS. All of the specials have been released on DVD over the last decade, but are now out-of-print. Luckily for Garfield fans, five of the specials will appear on the Garfield Holiday Collection: Collector's Edition DVD exclusively at Walmart. As an added bonus there is a brand new featurette "The House that Garfield Built: A Visit with Jim Davis."

The five Garfield specials on the DVD are:

A Garfield Christmas (1987) - Jon drags Garfield and Odie to his family's farm to celebrate Christmas. After befriending Grandma (voiced by Pat Carroll), Garfield learns the true meaning of Christmas.

Garfield's Thanksgiving (1989) -After a visit to veterinarian, Dr. Liz Wilson, Garfield is put on a diet and somehow Jon convinces Liz to join him for Thanksgiving dinner. Jon may know how to make a dish of lasagna, but he has no clue how to make a turkey dinner. Garfield comes up with the idea to ask Grandma to help them cook the meal.

Garfield's Halloween Adventure (1985) - After hearing about Halloween on the Binky the Clown Show, Garfield is determined to go trick-or-treating, so he can get all the candy, candy, candy that he can get his paws on. He grabs some of Jon's old clothes from the attic and goes as a pirate. He brings along Odie, so he can have twice the candy, candy, candy, but he makes a mistake by crossing the river by a boat, as their are ghost pirates not to far behind them.

Garfield On The Town (1983) -When being driven to the veterinarians, Garfield accidentally falls out of Jon's car. At first he likes living on the streets that is until he meets a gang of stray cats.

DVD Review - The Garfield Show: Holiday Extravaganza

The Garfield Show: Holiday Extravaganza
Studio: Dargaud
ASIN: B0089BSLWG
Release Date: September 4, 2012
Running Time: 72 minutes
Rated: NR

I grew up watching Garfield & Friends and of course the CBS Garfield prime time specials. It took me awhile to get use to The Garfield Show, in which I am starting to like. The Holiday Extravaganza came out of nowhere. I never heard about the DVD being released until I came across it in the store. Since I am a die-hard Garfield fan, I eagerly bought it.

The episodes on this disc are:

The Haunted House - John is out of idea for a new comic book, so he spends the weekend at Mr. Barker's new mansion, which is haunted by a ghost cat!

Which Witch - The annoying twins Druscilla and Minerva are visiting John and Garfield plans on getting rid of them by sending them to a witch's house.

Review - Garfield and the Teacher Creature

Garfield and the Teacher Creature

PUBLISHED BY: Troll
PUBLISHED IN: 1998
ISBN: 0-8167-4928-0
Pages: 78

Garfield and Odie decide to runaway after Jon announces that he is taking them to the vet. The pets pack their bags and leave. They stumble upon an abandon school. They sneak in through a broken window.

Inside, Garfield and Odie find a ten-year-old boy named Andy. He is not alone, he has brought along his wisecracking hamster, Sherman. Soon, they start to hear footsteps and strange sounds. They realize that they are not alone - there is a creature in the school!

I found this book at my local thrift shop last weekend. I’m a big Garfield fan, so this was a real treat for me. A few years ago, I read Garfield and the Mysterious Mummy, in which I found at a thrift shop too. Garfield and the Teacher Creature is a great book for children and for Garfield fans.
