Billy's Answer
I usually include a synopsis of the plot in my reviews. You almost have to if you want to help readers gain a sense of the book's plot. I aim to keep things simple and avoid giving too much away.

I sort of summarize parts of the synopsis.
ReplyDeleteI think I misunderstood the question. I took it as copying what was on the back of the book already vs. writing your own.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree you need to include one in a blog review. Otherwise, readers are going to be confused by who and what you are talking about.
I mean, I do include the book's dust jacket/synopsis in my review and that's pretty much what I go off of in my review. I do add a little more insight to the plot as well before diving into the mechanics of it all!

Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I don't always include a synopsis if I'm reviewing on Goodreads or similar as I assume that a reader will have already read the publisher's blurb. I do always include one if I review books on my blog though.
ReplyDeleteI write my reviews in a similar way. Have a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteI do the same - I try to write my own bit of plot summary, but I also include the publisher's book blurb.
