{Sunday Post} - Jaws, That Dirty Black Bag, and The Deadly Shadows

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

7/16/22 - I feel halfway rejuvenated after sleeping most of Saturday away. It probably isn't the best idea for me to be drinking my first cup of coffee at nearly 4PM, but I want to make sure I don't nod off during part 2 of Flowers in the Attic: The Origin

  • I had to replace/repair the pipe connecting to the cleanout drain because it was leaking.

  • The KC Royals continue their quest to be one of the worst teams in MLB with a 36-55 record.

  • If you play on an MLB team, you should get vaccinated! I'm referring to Whitt Merrifield and the nine other KC Royals players who couldn't travel to Toronto to play a 4-game series against the Blue Jays. Oh, wait a minute. Merrifield will get his shots only if he's playing on a winning team. Cough . . .it's time for a trade!

  • I bought the Ultimate SCI-FI Collection DVD set featuring Logan's Run, The Omega Man, Westworld, and Soylent Green. From what I've heard, Soylent Green is one of the greatest movies ever filmed. LOL!

  • I'm hosting a 3-Month Pure Flix Subscription Giveaway to tie in with my review for the documentary The Case for Heaven. Pure Flix is a Christian streaming service. Currently, there's only one entry, so the chances of winning are high. If anyone wants to enter the giveaway, do so below via the Rafflecopter.

What Am I Reading?

I'm currently in between reads. Next, I'll be reading either Nightmare Fuel: The Science of Horror Films by Nina Nesseth or The Deadly Hallows by Dani Pettrey.

What's in the Mail?

It seems like the days are all blending for me. At some point, Bethany House sent me The Deadly Shallows by Dani Pettrey. I received That Dirty Black Bag: Season 1 Blu-ray from RLJ Entertainment/AMC Studios on Friday Afternoon. The series airs on AMC+, to which I don't have a subscription, though I've seen a few advertisements for the series. The Blu-ray comes on July 26th. I'll have my review posted on the release day or a few days prior. There are only eight episodes, so I should have no problem binge-watching it this week.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

You would think the Weekly Wow at Dollar Tree would be for only one week, but that's not the case. It was Tuesday or Wednesday when I noticed the local Dollar Tree still had books listed on the Weekly Wow window advertiser. Curiosity got the better of me, and I stopped by to check out the books. I figured it would be the leftover books from the previous week, but I was wrong. They had several new titles. I picked up Trigger Happy by William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone (in the photo below), Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson, Last Things by Jacqueline West, and Death in the Family by Tessa Wegert.

I went to a Dollar Tree in Excelsior Springs on Friday, and in the Weekly Wow, there were also books. However, the books in the front of the store were slim and were the exact titles I saw at the other store. Then I checked the regular book aisle and found it jammed-packed. Which begs the question, "Why didn't they move those books to the Weekly Wow section?" Anyway, I got two paperbacks - Little Threats by Emily Schultz and All Roads End Here by David Moody.

The only new boughten eBook on my Kindle is The Jaws Log: Expanded Edition by Carl Gottlieb.

  4. Marilyn Ross! I love those old vintage gothics, just wish I had more time to read them. Enjoy your new books! I read Little Threats, and I think part of it was set in the 90s, which I liked.

  5. That DVD sounds awesome! I'm a big fan of Logan's Run, and I kinda want to see the original westworld. And Soylent Green is actually pretty good (I mean, kinda) but it's pretty dark too!

I love Lindsey stirling's stuff. Roundtable Roundup is a fave. :)

The case for Heaven has me curious as I've read several of strobel's books. And a Dark shadows book!!!
