{Ramblings} - A Vintage Home Library

Every year when Spring arrives, I look around my living space and have an uncontrollable urge to declutter everything. Even though I donated nearly twenty boxes full of books to a Salvation Army earlier in the year, it seems like I still don't have enough space. It's not that I have tons of books sitting around collecting dust. They're either on bookcases or stacked up in closets.

Yes, I could buy more bookcases from Walmart or Target. However, speaking from experience, these bookcases are cheaply made, causing the shelves to bow and break. My dream plan is to build a bookcase from 'real' wood. It would cover one wall (or two) from floor to ceiling in the downstairs living/office room.

Would I paint or stain the bookcase? That's a great question. It depends on what I do with the rest of the room, which is in dire need of a makeover. Could I paint the rest of the room? Sure, but I'm not the greatest painter, and the walls need more than just a solid color.  My best route will probably be wallpaper.

I've been browsing for wallpaper for Vintage Wallpaper, and my favorites are the daring designs from the 1960s and 1970s. One is titled 'Library' and features books stacked on shelves in its design. Other wallpapers that I like are the Blueberry Spinograph, Valencia Damask, Modish, Gardenia - Ruby, and Autumn Stripe. The price per square foot is only $6.50, a decent cost for Retro Style Wallpaper.

Considering I was never in existence in the '60s and '70s, it's a bit weird that I like the style, music, and movies from those eras. It might have to do with my love of older sci-fi and horror movies.
