The only sounds I could hear above the trotting of the pony's hooves, the rumble of the wheels and the creak of the cart, were sudden, harsh, weird cries from birds near and far.

My Thoughts

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill came out in 1983. There was a UK television movie adaptation in the late '80s and a Hammer Film-produced feature film in 2012, which the latter is the only one I have seen. Anyway, I visited the local online library via OneDrive and stumbled upon the title. Someone else had already checked the eBook out, so I put a hold on it. To my surprise, the book was available yesterday morning. It's short, so I'll most likely have it read by the time this post goes live.
