To Merch, or not to Merch?

When did bloggers and vloggers offer their own merchandise?

Not unless you're a celebrity or connected to a news organization, it’s hard for a regular person to monetize their blog, vlog, or YouTube channel and make a living off of it. I have been noticing bloggers and vloggers are selling their own merch (merchandise), such as t-shirts, sweaters, socks, mugs, pillows, cell phone cases, stickers, and pins. The list keeps going on and on!

I am taking a wild guess that affiliates and advertisers aren’t paying what they used to, and, now, they're finding more creative ways to make some extra cash. The merch they’re selling to their readers/viewers all feature their logos, so it’s just another way for them to advertise their blog or channel.

Personally, I have been looking for alternative ways to monetize this blog, and selling merch is an intriguing idea. Mugs and tumblers would be a must because of my love for anything caffeinated. Bookmarks would be another marvelous thing to sell. I am not for sure about clothing, but I wouldn’t rule it out.

Another idea is selling or giving away branding plastic bags featuring either my blog’s logo or The Midnight Horror Review logo. International Plastics makes custom printed plastic bags (promo bags) at a cheap price. They also make custom Halloween trick-or-treat bags, and everyone knows how much I love Halloween. Having my own “The Midnight Horror Review” trick-or-treat bags would be fun!
