Review - My One True North by Milly Johnson

For those of you who haven't noticed, my reading tastes have changed a little bit in the past two years. I used to read many (too many) romances on this blog, from Amish to Harlequin. After a while, the genre became a bit stale for me, so I ventured back into the world of horror and science fiction; though from time to time, I'm still going to read a few romantic titles, such as My One True North by Mill Johnson , which was released as an eBook by Gallery Books last month.

My One True North (Available on Kindle.) centers around two strangers, Pete Moore and Laurie De Vere, who both lost their loved ones six months ago. Fate intervenes, and they end up in the same grief support group hosted by seventy-some-years-old Molly Jones-Hoyland at her Wednesday "Molly's Club" sessions.

Struggling with grief, a friendship blossoms between Pete and Laurie, which later turns into romantic, because, well, this a romance story.

Final Thoughts

Let me start out by mentioning that I wasn't really in the mood to read a romance novel when I started reading My One True North last night. Nevertheless, I wanted to get the novel read and reviewed this week, so I kinda had to force myself to read it. At least that was the case for the first chapter, from that point on, I was 100% invested in the story, mostly thanks to Milly Johnson's great narrative, likable characters, lively dialogue, and colorful descriptions.

Overall, My One True North is a well-written, emotional romance. This is the first novel I have ever read by the author and I was impressed with her storytelling skills. If you like romance, then you'll definitely want to read My One True North.
