Review:

Cartoon Network, along with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, will be releasing the all-new compilation DVD release titled Adventure Time: Jake the Dad, PLUS a nifty Jake hat is included as an on-pack bundle, tomorrow, September 17, 2013! The DVD includes sixteen (eleven-minutes each) of the most popular episodes from seasons four and five with a special feature called "Little Did You Know."

After premiering in 2010, Adventure Time has become a hit with children and a cult classic with adults. The series follows a human boy, Finn, and his best friend/adopted brother, Jake - a dog who can change shape, grow, and shrink. They live in a post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, which typically they go on quests to help their friends.

Episodes on the single-disc release are:
  1. Jake the Dad - Lady Rainicorn gives birth to five puppies and Jake becomes an overprotected father.
  2. Burning Low - Is Princess Bubblegum jealous of Finn's relationship with Flame Princess? Or is she trying to save them?
  3. Gotcha! - To get research on her book, Lumpy Space Princess goes undercover by helping Finn and Jake.
  4. Sons of Mars - The Martian deity mistakes Jake for Magic Man and takes him to Mars for a trial.
  5. BMO Noire - BMO searches for Finn's missing sock.
  6. The Hard Easy - Finn and Jake try to protect the River Scamps from the Mega Frog.
  7. I Remember You - Marceline tries to help the Ice King remember his past by writing a song with him.
  8. All the Little People -Magic Man gives Finn and Jake a bag full of miniature versions of them and their friends, but Finn gets a little obsessed with the miniatures.
  9. Mystery Dungeon - Ice King, N.E.P.T.R, Tree Trunks, Shelby, and Lemongrab are trapped in a dungeon.
  10. All Your Fault - Princess Bubblegum sends Finn and Jake on a mission.
  11. Five More Short Graybles - A stranger from the future tells five short stories.
  12. Vault of Bones - Flame Princess debates whether or not she is evil.
  13. Simon & Marcy - Marceline tells Finn and Jake about her adventures with Ice King 996 years ago following the Mushroom War.
  14. Puhoy - Finn Builds a giant pillow fort.
  15. One Last Job - Jake reunites with his old gang to help save his daughter, Jake Jr..
  16. BMO Lost - After being kidnapped by an eagle, BMO must find his way home.
I have seen the series advertise multiple times, but this is first time I have watched it, which I instantly recognized the voice of Jake as being John DMaggio (AKA - Bender from Futurama)! The series has many oddball characters with names to match them, like Princess Bubblegum and Lemongrab. The episodes are wild and wacky, but more original than other cartoons on television. I'm not for sure why the DVD is titled Jake the Dad. Sure, that is the title of one episode, but other than "One Last Job", there are no other episodes that focus on Jake being a father. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed every episode and I do recommend the DVD to both new and old fans.
