Review: A House of Night Novel by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

The 10th installment in A House of Night series picks up where Destined ended, with the High Council finally finding out that the High Priestess Neferet is nothing but pure evil. Neferet has broken all ties with the Tulsa's House of Night. This of course takes a lot of weight off Zoey Redbird's shoulders, who already has enough problems to deal with. Neferet wastes no time with her schemes and she sets fire to school's stables. Two innocent felines die in the fire. Or were they killed by someone else?

Lenobia barely has time to mourn for Dragon's losses as she keeps seeing her lover Martin (whom died many, many years ago and appeared in Lenobia's Vow) in her dreams. Or are these signs? She starts to suspect that her new horse-keeper, Travis, (who was hired by Neferet) may possibly be Martin reincarnated.

Things couldn't get any worse. Right? Think again!

Zoey starts to think that she is crazy after she witnessed something strange when she looked at Aurox through the Seer Stone. She starts to believe that Heath may have returned in the form of Aurox. Is she just losing her mind?

Neferet is bringing a darkness like no other to the House of Night. Zoey and her friends may not be ready for what is coming.

Tensions are really building up as the House of Night series is coming closer to its end. I believe there are two more sequels and one prequel, Neferet's Curse, left in the series. I was looking forward to reading Hidden when I first heard about its release. St. Martin's Griffin was kind of enough to send me a complimentary copy to read. Fans of the series have been waiting for the day that everybody would learn of Neferet's wicked deeds and that time is now. Friendships are put to the test as the darkness arises upon Zoey and her friends. Revenge and reincarnation are two of the major themes throughout the book. Once again the mother/daughter writing team has successfully written another outstanding entry in the series. Hidden is a page turner as I read through it in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. Overall, Hidden is one of the best in the series!

  2. P. C. Cast has always been able to keep everyone in tune with what had happened in prior book. This book I am highly disappointed. I felt that I missed something important in the end of the last book and the beginning of this book.
