Review:

The Power Rangers franchise is kicking off its 21st first year with the DVD release Power Rangers Megaforce: The Mysterious Robo Knight, containing four exciting adventures. As an added bonus there is a Mega Bloks Micro Red Ranger Figure (toy for kids 5+) with each DVD.

Power Rangers Megaforce debuted last February on Nickelodeon, introducing new and old fans to a new generation of Power Rangers - Troy Burrows (Red Ranger), Noah Carver (Blue Ranger), Emma Goodall (Pink Ranger), Gia Moran (Yellow Ranger) and Jake Holling (Black Ranger). The five Angel Grove teenagers are summoned by Earth's supernatural guardian Gosei (sent to Earth by Zordon) and his robot assistant Tensou to become the Megaforce Rangers. Their mission is to stop the Warstar aliens from attacking Earth, but they can't stop the forces of evil by themselves, as they must make an alliance with the mysterious Robo Knight.

From left to right: The Blue Ranger ("Noah," left) and the Red Ranger ("Troy," right) star in Lionsgate Home Entertainment's POWER RANGERS MEGAFORCE: THE MYSTERIOUS ROBO KNIGHT.

The four episodes on the single-disc are:

"United We Stand" - In the fifth episode of the new series, a new Warstar monster, Beezara, turns the Pink and Yellow rangers against each other.

"Harmony and Dizchord" - The Megaforce Rangers never have time to rest, as a new monster, Dizchord, attacks Angel Grove with its music.

"Who's Crying Now?" - The Megaforce Red Ranger is put to the test when he must deal with school bullies and Creepox.

"Robo Knight" - Earth's protector Robo Knight, created by Gosei, has awaken from a deep sleep to protect Earth from any evil forces, but he doesn't want anything to with the Megaforce Rangers.

"Creepox" in Lionsgate Home Entertainment's POWER RANGERS MEGAFORCE: THE MYSTERIOUS ROBO KNIGHT.

Power Rangers Megaforce is the official 20th anniversary season of the franchise; setting the series back in the fictional Angel Grove, California. Yes, this may be a children series, but there are plenty of adults who have continued to watch the franchise for the past twenty-years. The acting has always been a bit wooden and the Megaforce cast is no different, but most people don't watch the series for the acting, they watch it for the karate fighting and Zord scenes.

The Mysterious Robo Knight DVD contains only four episodes, but it is priced under $15, so it is an affordable buy for fans. "United We Stand," "Harmony Dizchord," and "Who's Crying Now?" follow the simple format that made the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers so popular by blending together real teenager problems (like bulling) and a fast monster vs. Power Rangers plot. The series changes focus when "Robo Knight" awakens, which his voices reminds me of Robocop. There are no special features for the DVD. Overall, the four episodes on The Mysterious Robo Knight are entertaining and should satisfy any fan.
