5-Day Nutrisystem Jumpstart Your Weight Loss Kit Review

The past week has certainly went by fast as I have been reviewing the new 5-Day Nutrisystem Jumpstart Your Weight Loss Kit, which is available at most Walmart stores at $44.98. I have seen the advertisements on television with the talk show host Marie Osmond and the football legend Dan Marino. I wanted to know what the hype was all about, so I decided to join the NSNation and try the 5-Day kit.

The meals in the kit are:

Day 1:  Granola Cereal, Red Beans & Rice, Lasagna with Meat Sauce, Chocolatey Nougat Bar with Peanuts and Caramel

Day 2: Honey Wheat Bagel, Cheesy Potatoes Mix, Thick Crust Pizza, Chocolate Chip Cookies

Day 3: Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bar, Chicken Noodle Soup, Homestyle Beef & Mashed Potatoes, Coconut Almond Bar

Day 4: Double Chocolate Muffin, Fudge Graham Bar, Chicken Alfredo, Peppermint Cookie Patty

Day 5: Cinnamon Bun Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar, Rotini & Meatballs, Fudge Brownie

Thick Crust Pizza

Well, if you're thinking that the box contains everything you'll need for the five day diet, then you'll be sadly mistaken as you'll need to buy additional foods such as fat-free milk, low-fat yogurt, salad, low-fat shredded cheese, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, and other foods from the Powerfuels, Smartcarbs, Vegetables, and Optional Extras found on the back of the menu plan.

Double Chocolate Muffin
Is the food any good? Well, my favorites were all the granola and candy bars for the breakfasts and lunches (Don't worry you can eat a side salad too). Considering none of the food from the kit had to be refrigerated, it was pretty decent for diet food. I liked the Red Beans & Rice (thought it was a little spicy), the Thick Crust Pizza (thought it was small for a pizza), the Lasagna with Meat Sauce (I have to admit, I added a little shredded cheese), the Cheese Potatoes Mix (I don't like instant potatoes, but these were good), and the Chicken Noodle Soup. The Homestyle Beef & Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Alfredo, and the Rotini & Meatballs were okay, but a little bland for my taste. The desserts were all good, especially the Chocolate Chip Cookies and Peppermint Cookie Patty.

My final thoughts are that the 5-Day kit is meant to help a person get started in the right direction, whether that means joining the Nutrisystem program or just by using the meal menu presented in the kit as a guide. It's a diet! Some people will like it and some won't. I didn't lose any pounds during the five days, but I didn't gain any weight either. I don't lose weight easily to being with; maybe if I continued the diet longer I would see a few unwanted pounds disappear. Overall, I like the food in the 5-day kit and I do recommend others to at least give it a try.
