[Review] - Star Trek: Picard: Rogue Elements

Despite my disappointment with the new incarnations of Star Trek, my expectations for the spinoff Star Trek: Picard was a bit high. Like many Trekkies, I had negative feelings for the first season. Out of the new characters, Cristóbal Rios was the only one I liked, even though he was a ripoff of Han Solo. He's the captain, pilot, and owner of the small transport ship, La Sirena - a unique ship that looks more Star Wars than Star Trek

{Sunday Post} - Animal Farm, Evil Seeds, and The Woman in Cabin 10

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

August is nearly gone, and I have yet to tackle the reviews for the books piled up on my desk. My September 1st goal won't happen unless I force myself to sit down and review seven books. (FYI: I've already read them.) These titles don't include Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Queen's Gambit, Bring Me Back, The Final Girl Support Group, and Star Trek: Picard: Rogue Elements. Reviews for those books are coming soon. Or as soon as I can get to them.

[DVD Review] - V.C. Andrews' Landry Family

I'm getting to where I dislike almost every book-to-film adaptation that Hollywood cranks out for us poor souls to devour. Instead of going by the book, studios like to water down the story, revamp characters, dumbify the dialogue, and ignore plot points. Why do they do this? Budgetary issues and runtime restraints have something to do with it. Sometimes there are too many cooks in the kitchen - aka too many studio-heads inferring with production. Made-for-television movies and miniseries tend to be the worse (with the expectation of a few Stephen King adaptations and the North and South miniseries from the 1980s).
